Beach Hut - Fabric Picture

One little beach hut all by itself
Hang it on a wall
Or put it on a shelf
Do you know someone
Who likes beach huts?
Best get on to Folksy
Before the shop shuts :)

Short and sweet today.

See you tomorrow x

Handmade Monday - Needlecases

Needle case or Needle book? Anyway whichever one of the two that's what I spent my Saturday morning doing.

I'm embarassed to say that as a sewer I rely on scraps of fabric to look after my needles, which is why I'm forever misplacing (losing) them. So I took matters into hand and made myself a needlcase where I believe my needles will be happy to nest.

Once I'd made one though, I couldn't stop and made a few more.

Each one has a lovely contrasting lining with felt inlays picking out one of the colours from the front.

....and finished with a good old fashioned press stud (or snap fastener). Am I the only person to think that press studs are just the best thing ever?!

You may even have noticed the new labels - oooooh get me!

So these are destined for the online redneedle world of Etsy/Folksy which you may visit by clicking the links on my sidebar.

Now, I have to welcome some lovely new followers, thank you for visiting and I shall look forward to visiting your blogs soon.

First day of the Summer holidays and I'll be spending this afternoon helping my youngest son put together his new trampoline which he has been saving like mad for, whilst my eldest applies the finishing touches to his social calendar for the next six weeks.

When all is calm I will then sit myself down with a well earned cuppa and peruse the wonderful offerings over at Wendy's 1st Unique Gifts from my fellow crafting buddies. Thank you for stopping by today, come back soon when I hope to have more goodies to share.

 Enjoy the sunshine!

Fabric picture - 'Little Houses'

Just a quickie, after yesterdays wordy post I feel in need of lots of pics. So I just wanted to share with you a little picture I made using my best friend, my embroidery foot.

I'm getting adventurous though, I changed the colour of my thread oooooh I hear you cry yes indeed I used a chocolatey brown ..........

......and also did a little free motion artistry, check out the chimneys and the birds.

The frame was a treasure from a car boot, upcycled  to live another day and it provides the perfect setting for this picture.

I love 'little houses', I think there's something very appealing about them. I hope you enjoyed the gallery and definitely not too 'wordy' post.

There is some amazing embroidery talent out their in blogland, I've come to the conclusion that practice, pratice, practice is what you need to do.

What a difference a frame makes!

Hi there everyone, welcome to Tuesday and thank you so much for your lovely comments from yesterdays post, I poured myself a cuppa and settled down for a bit of 'me time' to fully digest them.
In getting things ready for the fair on Saturday I was re-framing a fabric picture I made a while ago - remember this?

Now look carefully at the frame, it's an Ikea one, it's fine, but when you look at the picture in it's new frame, wow what a difference!

Have a closer look and you can see the distressing a little better. I think my photos have turned out a little darker than I would have liked them to.

This was the first thing that I sold at the show and had generated alot of interest. One lady came back to purchase it only to find it had gone - so guess what I'll be making lots of from now on?

I just thought I would share this with you as I thought it was a very good example of just how important the setting you create for a picture can be, something I perhaps hadn't fully appreciated.

You've probably worked out that I've been doing alot of 'distressing' lately, in fact if you stand still for too long in our house you'll get painted white and rubbed down with a piece of sandpaper. Good fun though and it really gives a new lease of life to something that may have been consigned to the tip.

Thanks for coming to say hello today. Tomorrow I'll have a few pictures of the fair to share with you.

Happy Crafting

Free motion fabric collage

I have become totally obsessed with free motion embroidery. As we speak, dare I say, a darning foot is winging its way to me through the post, hurry up! I first became properly aware of FME after seeing it used beautifully on Kirsties Homemade Home last year, but I honestly didn't think I could do it on a machine as old as mine. How wrong I was! I then delved a little deeper and found out how this technique can be used for applique, oh joy! I still need to equip myself with all of the necessary accoutrements to get the best effect, but I couldn't resist having a play and made a cute little fabric collage. It's a first attempt but I was quite pleased with it. Just look at the little front door.

I'm so looking forward to experimenting with this technique, but for now I need to go and accost the postman! Thanks for visiting, have a good day.
