A little bit of thrift on a Thursday

Feeling like I've earned myself some 'eco brownie points' today. Well, what do you do when your youngest's bedsheet develops a large hole? (helped along by some curious toes) .......... turn it into napkins of course.

I don't know about you but I don't think you can ever have too many napkins and these will come in really handy especially with picnic season upon us.

I managed to 'rescue' 6 napkins altogether, they have a double 2cm hem all the way around and I decided to mitre the corners.

The borders have been embellished with a bit of crazy free motion - this was such fun as you can just run riot with the needle and it comes out looking ok.

I chose white cotton for the embroidery but I think a contrasting colour would have worked equally as well. The only problem is that white on white is a little difficult to shoot as these pics demonstrate. The bedsheet is still quite white I can assure you.

Table for one? Think that wine glass needs a refill!

So my napkins are now going to be safely stored away until needed although my youngest seemed rather reluctant to use them "But my feet have been on them!" You can't win them all can you?

  1. Great saving idea, you can't waste good cotton. I really like your free stitching too.
