Ordinary people doing extraordinary things.
Of all the charities there are, this is the one that I religiously support because I think it's so important not to forget.

There are some amazing ways to support this year, if you haven't already you should visit the Poppy shop, an online shop set up by the Royal British Legion to support the Armed Forces. There are some genuinely nice little bits on there.
So to help me remember and to remind others to remember, I shall be wearing my poppy(brooch) on my lapel with pride this year and donating through the website.
Wear yours with pride |
On to other matters, my sewing machine has been playing up over the weekend, so I'm thinking she may need to go for a little visit to a man in the know, hope it's not too serious. I don't know, first my camera, now my sewing machine. They say 'these things come in threes', don't they? Hope not.
Anyway off to visit Wendy at 1st Unique gifts now who amongst other things is looking for motivational quotes this week. Thanks for stopping by. Have a lovely day!
That poppy brooch is gorgeous, I too always support this charity and wear my poppy with pride. I hope the problems with your sewing machine and camera are fixed soon so I can see more of your lovely creations. x
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely Caroline and you are so right, it is important to remember who lost their lives fighting for their country and support those that still do.
ReplyDeleteCaroline that is lovely... I have made a crocheted Poppy which I am wearing (donation already made to the RBL) and. I will be blogging about it later.
ReplyDeleteI like the word remember, it is just so important not to forget the cream of youth that we lose in War.
What a lovely poppy brooch and you're right we must not forget. We've all been affected, one way or another, by war - but some much, much more than others.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely Caroline, our Make, Do and Mend group have been making them this year to sell for the British Legion, a huge variety, crocheted, sewn, felt. See here for some pictures: http://makedoandmendexeter.blogspot.com/2011/10/october-2011_21.html
ReplyDeleteLove the brooch and the sentiment. I've done poppy earrings which would be a great match, with a donation to the British Legion with each sale.
ReplyDeleteHope your machines are better soon :-)

Hello Caroline:
ReplyDeleteA timely post indeed and,so important, as you say, to remember. Your handmade poppy brooch looks perfect and, coupled with a donation to the British legion is an absolutely perfect way to mark Remembrance Day.
A lovely brooch and a timely reminder. I've been having machine problems this week too, my dishwasher packed up on the day my family came to stay! They've gone now and the new one arrives on Thursday but I've already got dishpan hands!
ReplyDeleteHope you can sort out your mechanical problems soon x
Love the brooch Caroline - says it all. Hope your machine 'gets well soon' Mich :)
ReplyDeletelovely poppy, and I love your style. Very 'beachy', very me.
ReplyDeleteThe poppy brooch is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to do something for others. The brooch is lovely. BTW I had to have my Nikon camera (my baby, my hobby!) cleaned and tuned awhile back. I hated even having her out of my hands. It did help. And I took my old sewing machine in to be cleaned and gone over and then gave her to my daughter in law (and bought me a new one--well my husband did because I promised him I would learn to sew, and I am trying!) LOL So, I understand about taking those things in and having them worked on. I'm just glad there are people who know how to do that stuff because I am total NOT mechanical.
ReplyDeleteThat really is lovely. Such a fresh idea to the standard poppy brooch. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteWonderful brooch - I make poppy window clings which are really popular and a donation from each one goes to this extremely important charity.
ReplyDeleteHope you manage to get your sewing machine and camera sorted out soon - my Dad always used to tell me to break a matchstick for the 'third' thing!

A lovely brooch Caroline, and it looks very classy on your jacket - you should carry some spare ones in your pocket to sell to admirers!
ReplyDeleteLovely brooch and sentiments.
