Definitely got the bug!

Hi there everyone, I hope Wednesday morning finds you all in good spirits. You'll be pleased to know the chocolate fudge cake was a great success but there's only so much you can eat before you start feeling VERY SICK!

Well, progress has definitely been made in the wonderful world of crochet. Spurred on by Little Harriet's contribution in Handmade Monday this week I decided to attempt her You tube recommendation for crocheted flowers, thanks Harriet for the link. This was my attempt.....

Now you have to imagine the scene in my empty houseold upon completing the last stitch, "I can do flowers!!" I squealed and virtually cartwheeled across the living room floor, much to the bemusement of my two cats.
Of course then I thought I was ready for a bigger challenge. I'm beginning to get to grips with crochet terminology, so I took a deep breath and ventured over to Attic 24 to see what she could tempt me with.  I was spoiled for choice, but as I had only just started my 'flower phase' I thought I'd try one of her wonderful tutorials 'Crochet flowers and leaves'

TA DAH!!!!!

This elicited an even bigger squeal from my lips, as after much furrowing of brow and sticking out of tongue I managed to complete this cute flower. The eagle eyed amongst you will spot there are no leaves, well no, but hey do you know what, I can do flowers, I don't care!

The wool was far too thick for the hook I was using but needs must, it was all I had and my enthusiasm was more than enough to cope with this minor irritation, but I do hear the wool shops a-calling.

What have you been up to today?

  1. Hello Caroline:
We always knew that chocolate fudge cake was going to be delicious. And so, clearly, it was.

Congratulations on the flowers! Bouquets next?!!

To answer your question, today we have skipped to the framer to collect a little Victorian watercolour of Christchurch Priory and to leave an oil, which we only partially like, of the River Bourne [Hampshire or Wiltshire, we think}. And soon it will be lunchtime!

  2. Oh dear, that cake looks just divine and is just the sort of thing that would lure you over to the Dark Side of the Force! I'm not sure whether first to congratulate you on those fab flowers or the cartwheel...

Today, I've been answering emails and planning a fab craft party for Friday. And later I might take a look at the One Layer Wednesday challenge! Vx

  3. Hi Caroline,
I have been catching up on your blog after being away. I enjoyed your 10 things, like you I took 4 goes to pass my driving test.
You are flying along with the crochet, I am still on granny squares, I like the fact that crocheting is so portable and small things like squares and flowers don't take long to finish.
The cards are fab and I love the football paper, you always come up with just the right thing for boys which I never can.
Speaking as a fellow chocoholic, that cake looks irresistible!
